A Classical Music Festival in Cortland is an afternoon of music that includes classical, theater, original compositions and international music. Musicians are mostly local professionals, amateurs and students who are eager to share the music that they love with the community. The result is an informal gathering that is quite different from the traditional concert hall, giving both performers and listeners a unique perspective on classical music.

Four of these festivals are organized each year. The summer festival is typically held in the Courthouse Park as part of the Arts and Wine Festival, organized by the Cultural Council of Cortland County. Other festivals have been hosted by the Blue Frog Coffeehouse, 64 Main Street in Cortland.

Despite its name, the "Classical Music Festival" is not all classical. Festival organizers look for other styles of music that are less popular or less well known. For example, recent festivals have featured the music of Spanish poet Garcia Lorca, Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla, Welsh music for harp and voice as well as Brazilian choros and original compositions by local musicians.
